The Goa Housing Board (GHB) is set to get a new five-storeyed building at a cost of Rs 58.27 crore in Porvorim.
This was stated by GHB Chairman and Shiroda MLA Subhash Shirodkar after he unveiled the foundation stone for the new GHB building in the presence of former Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, Penha de Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, panch member Shalu Gupta and ZP member Kavita Naik.
Shirodkar said the lower ground floor will have parking space for 70 cars and 54 two-wheelers, while the ground floor would have a kitchen, cafeteria, three offices and parking facilities for 25 cars and 10 two wheelers.
“Offices will be located on the first, second, third and fourth floor, while the fifth floor will have a small auditorium with a 260-sitting capacity and conference room. Some offices in this new building will be rented out to other government offices,” said Shirodkar.
Shirodkar also explained that the auction of shops and offices in the new market complex had been held up due to completion of RERA formalities.
“These formalities will be completed by the month end and shops and offices will be auctioned by May,” Shirodkar added.
Stating that the financial position of GHB had improved a lot, Shirodkar said: “The GHB would earlier find it difficult to pay salaries of its staff but the GHB does not face this problem anymore,” said Shirodkar.
GHB Managing Director Nitin Dessai said the new building would be constructed within the next two years. Since this is a prime location close to the assembly complex and High Court, GHB will be able to rent out offices for other government departments,” said Dessai.
