All India Congress Secretary Girish Chodankar has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for attending a programme in RSS fatigues, even as he demanded to know from Ministers Vijai Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte, Jayesh Salgaonkar and Vinoda Paliencar whether they support the Chief Minister attending a RSS programme in the organisation's fatigues.
Addressing the media, Girish said the Congress party has no objection whether Parrikar attends the RSS programme or becomes the Goa RSS pramukh in his personal capacity. "What, however, is highly objectionable is that Parrikar as the Chief Minister of Goa was seen in RSS fatigues at a programme of Hindu Chetna Sangam organised by RSS to unite the majority community," Girish said, while reminding the Chief Minister that he has taken an oath while assuming office to take along all people of the State in the path of development.
Saying that the Chief Minister's presence at the RSS meet and in fatigues is an offence to the Indian Constitution, Girish said the episode has sent a wrong signal to the communities in the State and wondered whether it is a blatant attempt by the BJP to polarise the voters in the State ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
Girish pointed out that the Chief Minister's presence at the RSS programme has come at a time when the minorities across the country are a worried lot because of the fear instilled by the Gau Rakshas, Ghar Vapsi programme, etc.
Meanwhile, Girish demanded that the Chief Minister should clarify on the reported statement made by PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar that the government has levied the fees on non-Goans availing medical facilities in the State because of the bad financial situation facing the State.
He said the Manohar Parrikar government stands exposed on its policy of zero tolerance to corruption with a court directing the registration of FIR against former DIG in a case of corruption.
