In another development, Hospicio Medical Superintendent Dr Aira Almeida on Thursday has constituted a team of three senior doctors, headed by Dr Eddie D’Mello to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire episode with the relatives of the woman complaining of negligence.
The post mortem examination of the stillborn child was carried out at the GMC, Bambolim instead of Hospicio after the relatives complained of negligence. GMC, however, has reserved opinion on the autopsy report over the exact cause of death.
Maina-Curtorim police station in-charge, PI Gawde told The Goan that the opinion over cause of death has been reserved pending chemical analysis. The report has been called for preserving the vicera for chemical analysis.
Given the situation, the Maina-Curtorim police dashed off a letter to the Hospicio Medical Superintendent Dr Aira Almeida to conduct an inquiry and intimate the police in the event of any negligence behind the stillborn child.
When The Goan contacted Dr Aira Almeida to shed light on the case, she pointed out that she has constituted a member team of senior Hospicio doctors, including Dr Eddie D’Mello to inquire into the episode and report back by evening. “I have asked the inquiry panel to examine all aspects of the case since the time the 26-year-old woman was admitted at the Hospicio on Wednesday midnight,” she added.
