Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai recently made a fervent plea to the students to join politics, especially girls as they will soon get 33 per cent reservation of seats in the State Assembly.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Students Council of Hindu Mathagramastha Sabha run Damodar Higher Secondary school at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, the Goa Forward Chief wondered whether they want their future to be decided by uneducated politicians. “Students plan their careers to become engineers, but many of them end up paying bribes to the agents of the ruling party to get a government job as engineers. I would like to ask you whether you want your future to be decided by uneducated politicians,” he said.
While giving a call to the students to join politics, Sardesai said the girls should come out and join politics, reminding them they would soon get 33 per cent reservation of seats in the State Assembly.
“You should not be going to anyone’s sister or wife to contest an election. We should have young and educated leaders from the grassroots. Many a student take to engineering as their subject, but international relations, political science, sociology are also subjects which are as good as engineering,” he said.
Referring to the absence of IT industry in Goa, Sardesai has said the State has missed the IT bus with the private players opting for Pune, Bengaluru and Chandigarh to set up IT units.
