Senior police officers from Goa, and adjoining states - Maharashtra, and Karnataka met on Tuesday to discuss clamping down on any illegal smuggling that could influence voters before and during the Lok Sabha polls.
During the interstate coordination meeting held at the Goa Police Headquarters in Panaji, the officers discussed maintaining strict vigilance on the transportation of illegal liquor, drugs, cash, freebies, etc, which could influence voters.
“The coordination meeting was held as part of better coordination between neighboring states having borders with Goa for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, for facilitating exchange of information about wanted criminals, proclaimed offenders, and other aspects related to election and for enforcement of seizure of illegal items like cash, liquor, drugs, etc being transported across the border,” reads a statement issued by Goa Police.
