Goa Police moots licence suspension for serious violations

Goa Police has begun to seriously consider the directives of Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety headed by Justice K S Radhakrishnan issued in 2015.

PANAJI: 

 Upon receiving a nod from the department of transport, Goa Police could begin compounding of licences for speeding, drunken driving, red light jumping and the use of mobile phones while driving. These licences will then be suspended by the RTO for a minimum of three months, as per the SC directives.

Traffic signals: 2-year-old proposal set to be revived

Proposal for installation of 53 traffic signals, 20 pedestrian signals and 73 blinkers is set to be revived after lying dormant for over two years.

PANAJI  Numerous of these signals have been proposed on major cross-roads and T-junctions in Panaji, Mapusa, Ponda, Porvorim, Vasco, Margao and Valpoi and could lead to a complete overhaul of Goa s road traffic.
