Goa has migrated its birth and death registration system from the State portal to the Central Civil Registration System (CRS) portal with effect from July 1, bringing the State's civil registration services under a uniform national platform.

The Office of the Registrar General of India (ORGI), Ministry of Home Affairs, has informed the State government that all new birth and death registrations will now be carried out exclusively through the Central CRS portal.

As part of the migration, birth and death records maintained on the Goa State portal from 1971 to June 30, 2026 are being integrated with the Central CRS portal in phased manner.

“Once successfully transferred, these records will be frozen on the State portal and all related citizen services, including the issuance of certificates, will be available only through the Central portal,” the Ministry said.

Officials said the existing State portal will remain operational only for issuing birth and death certificates in cases where records are yet to be migrated to the Central CRS. However, no fresh birth or death registrations will be accepted on the State portal from July 1 onwards.

The Birth and Death Certificates issued through the Central CRS portal will follow a standardised format prescribed by the Registrar General of India, making them uniform and valid across the country.
