Govt lifts Covid curbs, permits businesses to function 100%

PANAJI
The State government on Monday lifted the Covid-19 curbs and has permitted businesses to function at 100 per cent capacities in view of the consistent decline in cases over the last few days.

Casinos, cinema halls, multiplexes, theatres, auditoriums, large closed venue businesses among others have been permitted to function with 100 per cent seating capacity.

Also permitted to function at full capacity are businesses with open-air venues, including marriage venues, water parks, entertainment parks and swimming pools besides other activities like spas, massage parlours, restaurants, pubs, bars, halls, gymnasiums and yoga centres.

Schools and colleges which have also been permitted to conduct physical classes for all levels with 100 per cent seating capacity, however, are being issued separate SOPs by the Education Department.

On Monday, the State reported just two fresh Covid-19 infections over the previous 24-hours from the 800-odd samples tested. There was also one death reported in these 24 hours.

However Covid-19 appropriate norms and SOPs will have to be strictly adhered to both by operational staff as well as guests, including 100 per-cent vaccination and/or Covid-19 negative report of less than 72 hour duration.

“Only Covid vaccination eligible persons with two doses of Covid-19 (fully vaccinated persons) or with Covid negative report will be allowed entry,” the government order states.

Meanwhile testing at airports, seaports, railway stations and borders will be stopped, the order said.

Only those fully vaccinated or those carrying 72-hour valid Covid-19 negative reports will be permitted to enter the State, it adds.
