Why should people along the Goa’s coast have all the fun? Shiv festival could well be the answer to people residing in the State’s hinterland.

The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is planning to organise a grand three-day Shiv festival at Tambdi Surla.

Chairman of GTDC, Ganesh Goankar informed that the corporation has plans to organise the cultural festival in the interiors of the State.

Gaonkar also informed that GTDC will take up work to re-construct four tourist residences including that of Colva and Mapusa.

“We are planning an international Shiv festival during the Mahashivratri. The work is on. If it happens then a three-day Shiv festival will be held at Tambdi Surla…,” Gaonkar said.

The GTDC Chairman was speaking to journalists after chairing the first meeting of the corporation after the new government was sworn-in.

Continuing, Gaonkar said the Shiva festival will be a cultural event where locals could also get an opportunity to participate.

“This side along the coast there are EDMs like Sunburn…We will get Shiv festival, a big cultural event on the other side,” he said.

The board of directors of GTDC decided to rebuild four tourist residences at Colva, Mapusa, Mollem and Vasco.

“All these residences are functioning at the moment but they have become old. People want better facilities. That is why we decided to reconstruct them,” the GTDC chairman said.

The GTDC directors also discussed about setting up of a theme park and a wellness centre.

Gaonkar informed that the Dona Paula beautification project was initially delayed due to the Covid pandemic and then due to the assembly elections.

“All pending projects will be carried forward. In the on-going projects the contractors have been given a time limit to complete works,” he said.
