Govt staff in Canacona found postal voting tough?

CANACONA

Questions are being raised on whether government staff in Canacona had sufficient knowledge of postal voting after a sizeable 145 of 1,163 postal ballots were rejected in the Canacona constituency.

Incidentally, four of the government staff had opted for NOTA.

Expressing surprise over a large number of rejected postal ballots, questions were also raised on whether government staff were given the training to exercise their franchise through postal ballots.

Meanwhile, all eight candidates in the Canacona constituency had their share of postal ballots with the winning BJP candidate Ramesh Tawadkar bagging the maximum of 427 votes, followed by ex-MLA and Independent candidate Vijay Poi Khot (233), former Deputy Speaker and Independent candidate Isidore Fernandes (177), Congress candidate Janardhan Bhandari (124), TMC candidate Mahadev Dessai (16), RG candidate Prashant Pagi (25), AAP candidate Adv Anoop Kudtarkar (10) and an Independent candidate (2).

As many as 296 voters “ 292 from the 28,114 EVM voters and 4 postal ballots “ opted for NOTA, thereby indicating that they had no faith in all eight candidates.
