OLD GOA
Stating that the four-lane highway project at Corlim was planned way back, PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral, however, said his department is willing to compensate those who will be affected by the project.
Cabral also sought to allay fears of temples at Bhoma getting demolished as he said a flyover would be built in that area.
The PWD minister made the statement on the sidelines of the function at Corlim to inaugurate 800 cubic meter GLR.
“There are some old houses which are getting affected but there are other houses which have been built without leaving the setback and such houses cannot be saved. There are three houses which are old and I have told those house owners that equal land would be given, the houses would be reconstructed and till that time, the PWD will bear the rent expenses. This is all that I can do,” he added.
“Somebody has to sacrifice for the sake of development,” he further added.
On the apprehension that three temples at Bhoma would be demolished, Cabral said it would not be the case.
