A GSAI delegation led by President Dixon Vaz along with South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar called on the Union Shipping Minister and discussed the ex-gratia issue in detail with a plea to increase the relief from Rs 200 per month to minimum Rs 5,000 per month.

Vaz told the media that the Union Shipping Minister later directed his OSD Rajgopal Sharma to follow up the matter with proper documentation so that a solution can be found soon.

“We have handed all the paperwork related to ex-gratia to the OSD who assured that he will write to all concerned departments," Vaz said adding that GSAI delegation also called on the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at Parliament House and pursued the ex-gratia relief matter.
