Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced on Tuesday that a comprehensive medical audit of all hospitals and health centres across the State will be conducted soon.
This initiative aims to improve the quality of healthcare services in Goa.
Rane also announced that the Candolim Primary Health Centre (PHC) will be upgraded to a Community Health Centre, enhancing its capacity to serve the local population.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Arpora-Nagoa sub-health centre, established under the Ayushman Arogya Mandir Yojana, Rane emphasised the government’s commitment to expanding healthcare access.
He assured the appointment of a full-time doctor at the newly opened sub-health centre, addressing a critical need in the area.
“Our government is dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to the people of Goa. Efforts are ongoing to further enhance health services across the State. A medical audit of all hospitals and health centres will soon take place,” Rane stated.
The Arpora-Nagoa sub-health centre, set up under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme, was inaugurated in the presence of key local leaders, including Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, Arpora-Nagoa Sarpanch Roshan Redkar, Deputy Sarpanch Sushma Nagvekar and Dr Rupa Naik from the Directorate of Health Services.
Candolim Health Officer Dr Roshan Nazareth was also in attendance.
Rane addressed the shortage of doctors in the State, assuring that the government is actively recruiting 80 new doctors on a contract basis.
Once the recruitment process is completed, these doctors will be deployed to various hospitals and health centres across Goa.
Arpora-Nagoa Sarpanch Roshan Redkar highlighted the collaborative effort behind the establishment of the new sub-health centre, which was realised with the support of Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and the health department.
The centre was constructed at a cost of Rs 39 lakh.
Redkar also urged the health department to equip the centre with an ECG machine and appoint a resident doctor to enhance the facility’s capabilities.
Rane backs Michael for cabinet post
MAPUSA: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has expressed his strong support for Michael Lobo’s inclusion in the Pramod Sawant-led cabinet, stating that his best wishes are always with Lobo.
When questioned by mediapersons about the potential cabinet reshuffle, Rane responded, “I have prayed to God about it,” emphasising his hope that Lobo’s aspirations will be fulfilled.
Rane made these remarks while inaugurating a sub-health centre in Arpora, where he praised Lobo as a leader who consistently prioritises the well-being of the people.
The speculation around a possible cabinet reshuffle gained traction after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant hinted at the possibility on Monday.
