Speaking to media persons Rane said he was confident of winning the panchayat elections with the BJP and called Congress a losing party.
“No one is interested in Congress anymore. Rahul Gandhi is going to be whitewashed in 2019, why should anyone go to the Congress in such a case. I’m not accountable to Chella Kumar. He is a man who is from Tamil Nadu and he should worry about Tamil Nadu and should not worry about me or what I’ve done in Sattari,” he said.
He added that his decision to leave Congress was one that was aimed at the greater interest of the constituency. “Whatever political decision I’ve taken is in the interest of the people of Sattari and now in the panchayat elections, you will come to know what the result is. We will win every ward of the panchayat because people want development,” he said.
People felt let down by the Congress, he said “the situation and even out of power, they fight. They are irrelevant and shouldn’t be discussed.”
Rane also said he was happy and confident with the BJP adding that Goa Forward too were on the same page.
