Heavy rains expose CCMC poor quality pre-monsoon work

Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Chairperson Vishwas Sawant Dessai claimed that the council had carried out pre-monsoon works in its jurisdiction, but the heavy showers in the last few days has exposed the quality of work by municipal authorities.
Clogged drains and potholes onthe roads were seen in some parts of Curchorem-Cacora area, after rains lashed the area over the past few days.
Some roads, especially at Curchorem junction where the road-widening is being undertaken, is filled with potholes, while there has been water logging in some drains. Some drains were still seen covered with bushes and weeds, while waste has also choked the drains near the KTC bus stand at Curchorem.
When contacted CCMC Chief Officer Sagun Velip refused to respond on whether he was satisfied with the pre-monsoon works in the municipality.
Later, CCMC Chairperson Vishwas Sawant Dessai said a resolution relating to pre-monsoon works was taken in the recent council meeting. “The pre-monsoon works have been carried out recently, especially in Bepquegal area,” he added.
When asked to comment on the water logging at the drainage which was inaugurated recently at Bepquegal, Dessai replied, “The drain got clogged due to an issue with the height. The CCMC will find a way to enable stagnant water to flow,” he assured.
