Roofs at some houses and garages were either damaged or blown away in Bhomwada-Tuem, following strong winds and heavy rains in Pernem taluka on Thursday.
The roofs were blown from the houses and garages owned by Prajyot Prakash Naik, Satish Satyawan Naik, Sunil Gangaram Naik and others in Bhomwada. A Pernem fire tender went to the affected areas and cleared the fallen roofs.
Former Sarpanch Sulaksha Naik and locals also went to the site to offer relief and support to the affected residents.
Considering the heavy losses incurred to the home owners, Mandrem MLA said he would discuss the matter with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to enable the affected families get compensation from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Arolkar also assured his personal help to the affected families.
