The health of two terminated anganwadi workers, who are on a hunger strike at Azad Maidan, has deteriorated and one of them has been moved to a hospital.
"Pornima Gaonkar of the Dharbandora Anganwadi has been shifted to the GMC as her sugar level has gone down,” said Congress leader and Union Leader of Anganwadi workers Adv Hrudaynath Shirodkar.
“Health officials have said her sugar and pressure levels had dropped and that is why she was shifted to the hospital for treatment,” said Adv Shirodkar.
Shirodkar said the health of the agitating anganwadi workers is deteriorating and it is high time the government intervenes in the matter and takes back these workers.
The anganwadi workers, who have been on strike at Azad Maidan for the last one month, began a hunger strike 10 days ago to demand the revocation of their termination orders.
Adv Hrudaynath Shirodkar said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane should visit the agitating Anganwadi workers.
