A landslide took place near the Rashtroli Brahman temple at Vaddem in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
Suspecting that the landslide occurred due to heavy rains in the port town over the last two days, residents in the area have requested authorities to take preventive measures as a top priority.
According to information, the landslide was reported at around 3 am when the rocks and boulders began falling from the hillock behind the Rashtroli Brahman temple.
“Fortunately, the incident took place at a time when there were no vehicles or people along the hillock. However, many boulders are now lying in a precarious position and there is a possibility that these rocks could come down and cause another landslide.
Residents have urged authorities to take preventive measures as Vaddem is a landslide-prone area and a major landslide had claimed the life of an elderly lady after boulders came crashing down on her house during heavy monsoons a few years ago.
