Taking cognizance of a complaint from a senior citizen, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza has initiated an inquiry into an alleged illegal grabbing of property at Palolem by physical force and criminal intimidation.

Senior citizen and State awardee social worker Natividade De Sa had complained to the Deputy Collector & SDM, Canacona, with a copy to D'Souza, that his ancestral property at Palolem was illegally grabbed by one person by using physical force and criminal intimidation.

Taking cognizance of the complaint, D'Souza had called for a detailed report from the Collector (South).

In turn, Additional Collector-I (South Goa district), Margao, called for a detailed inquiry report from the Canacona Mamlatdar saying, “In this regard, Canacona Mamlatdar is directed to conduct detailed inquiry of the case along with financial income of the complaint and submit the report immediately to this office to take further necessary action in the matter.”

Speaking to The Goan, De Sa claimed he had been cheated by physical force and criminal intimidation to part with his ancestral property at Palolem and complained that no authority had earlier come to his rescue.

“The deputy chief minister has now initiated an inquiry into the matter,” he added with relief.
