Hospitality projects including a number of resorts will come up for approval of Investment Promotion Board (IPB) during its next meeting, scheduled in the coming week.
Overall, IPB will decide the fate of 30 projects, which, if all cleared, will create more than 9,000 jobs and bring more than Rs 3,000 crore of investments to the State.
Of these 30 projects, 20 are hospitality projects, which mostly include a resort or a hotel. Of these 20 hospitality projects, six are in Bardez, four each in Pernem and Tiswadi, three in Canacona, two in Salcete and one in Quepem.
Riviera Constructions Pvt Ltd’s project to set up a convention centre, two five-star hotels and two four-star hotels and an entertainment centre is the most high profile project, which will seek an in-principle approval of IPB in its upcoming meet.
This project is expected to come up at Mandrem and will create 3,000 jobs and will bring Rs 450 crore of investment, if approved and materialised.
Another crucial project seeking IPB’s nod is Bonjour Investment Company’s proposal to set up a 250 rooms resort in Canacona, which has the potential to create 351 jobs and will also bring Rs 250 crore of investment.
A number of eco-resorts are seeking IPB’s approval in this meeting. Most prominent among them is Eden Investments & Estates proposal to set up an eco-resort and wellness retreat in Pernem, which will bring Rs 300 crores of investment and create 168 jobs.
The IPB will also decide upon two projects of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC). GTDC is seeking IPB’s in-principle approval for development and renovation of its residency at Britona. The said project is expected to be implemented by M/s Britona Hotel & Yatch Club, which is a subsidiary of Ecotec Developers.
This project will require an investment of Rs 105.6 crore and create 165 jobs. Another GTDC’s project up at the next IPB’s meeting is development of passenger ropeway between Panaji and Reis Magos, which has a significant employment potential of 700 jobs and will need Rs 100 crore of investment.
Meanwhile, IPB will also consider giving approval to a state-of-art IT park at Kadamba Plateau. This project belongs to M/s. Jai Bhuvan Builders and will require an investment of Rs 532 crore and create jobs for 632 persons.
Another key proposal expecting IPB’s approval is Kenstro Builders plan to set up a shopping mall and entertainment centre at Margao, which is aimed at creating jobs for 300 persons and bringing Rs 50 crore worth of investments.
