Around Rs 2.5 lakh worth gold jewellery of a family from Hubli who came to Goa and were staying at Kasargad, Dattagad, Betoda, was stolen on Saturday night.
On the oral complaint, the police came to the spot and conducted a panchanama. The family had come to Goa to attend a marriage ceremony and was staying in the rented premises at Betoda.
The family members went to have food on Saturday night by locking the house. When they came back they saw that the house latch was broken and jewellery of around Rs 2.5 lakh gone.
However, the family didn’t file any formal complaint.
Residents claim a gang of robbers is operating in the area who are committing the thefts.
The thieves have also robbed a gas cylinder and cash of Rs 3000 from a neighbouring house on the same night.
