The Goa government has extended by one year the scheme providing 2 per cent reservation in government jobs for registered children of freedom fighters. The extension will allow the benefit to continue for appointments made through the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC).

In a notification, the Department of Home (General) stated that the reservation under Clause 3(c) of the scheme will remain in force from March 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027.

The scheme provides a 2 percentage point reservation in Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ government posts for children of registered freedom fighters, based on roster points. The department also clarified that the scheme will continue during this period or until the last of the 79 registered children of freedom fighters under the department is sponsored for government employment, whichever is later.

The scheme was introduced after an announcement in the State Budget for 2013-14 to provide employment opportunities in government service to children of freedom fighters.

The government has decided to continue the scheme to ensure that eligible beneficiaries under the Home Department do not lose access to the reservation benefit.
