Stating that the process to take possession of Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir at Ponda will start only after Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) completes the work, Art and Culture Minister Dayanand Mandrekar was optimistic of inauguratinig the project on April 2.
Speaking to The Goan, Mandrekar said he wanted to inaugurate the Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir on March 13, but it was not possible as the work is incomplete.
“We can’t take possession of Kala Mandir in an incomplete state. My department is not technical and only organises cultural programmes. Hence, we will not be in a position to complete the work. It's better if GSIDC completes the work and only then, we can take possession,” Mandrekar said.
According to Mandrekar, 2 poer cent work is remaining and GSIDC has assured to compete it this month.
Asked if the process of ‘handover’ had started, Mandrekar replied, “We can’t think of taking possession without the work being completed. I want the GSIDC to complete all work.”
Sources informed The Goan that GSIDC has increased the pace of work and will complete the work by March end.
Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir’s auditorium capacity will be 1100 people, while there will be classrooms for conducting musical and dance classes.
