The Goa Police Special Investigation Team probing the many illegal  mining cases have summoned one Santeesh Sail an independent MLA of  Karwar to question him for his alleged involvement in illegal mining  activities, during the period from 2007 to 2012.

The summons was issued to Sail at his residence in Sadashivgad, Karwar by police Inspector Dattaguru Sawant.

Sail is the Director of Mallikarjun Shipping Private Limited and has  allegedly been involved in exports of illicit mining activities and illicit export of iron ore in Goa during  the period 2007-2012 along with other unnamed fly-by-night traders and  leaseholders.

It may be recalled that the independent MLA was also arrested by the CBI for his alleged involvement in illegal mining scam in Karnataka.

The summons come barely weeks before Karnataka heads to assembly elections which will be held next month.
