The Congress Party block from Ponda which is supporting candidates from the Ponda Citizens Progressive Front, is optimistic of winning 13 seats at the upcoming Ponda municipality election.
This was announced at a press conference on Sunday by Congress block president John Pereira.
Vice president Ashok Naik, Hussain Mulla and Arum Gudekar were present on the occasion.
Pereira said that they held a meeting of Congress block and decided to support PCPF.
“As Congress leader Ravi Naik is an MLA of Ponda, we are optimistic of winning at least thirteen seats out of fifteen.” He said.
There are fifteen wards in Ponda municipality, which will go for polls on April 29.
Pereira said that only three candidates are old faces, while the rest are all new faces. “We have chosen candidates that are not corrupt and with good character. Hence we are sure of winning at least thirteen seats.” Ashok Naik said.
Naik said that all candidates will file their nominations on April 10.
