A 42-year-old native of Karnataka allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in a city hotel in Vasco.
According to reports, Vasco Police received a call on Tuesday at about 4.15 pm stating the hotel staff noticed unusual odour outside the hotel room.
The police was summoned to the site and the police found the body of one Prabhakara hanging in the room. The body was later sent for an autopsy at Hospicio at Margao.
The police suspects that Prabhakara must have committed suicide at least two days ago and a case of unnatural death has been registered.
When contacted, the hotel staff said Prabhakara had checked in the hotel on Sunday at about 1.30 pm and was last seen at about 6.15 pm on the same day.
“On Tuesday evening, the housekeeping staff started getting foul smell from the room and the matter was immediately reported to Vasco Police,” a hotel staffer told The Goan. PSI Yogesh Mandrekar is investigating the case.
