Khalap asserts Congress as sole alternative to BJP in North Goa

MAPUSA

During his campaign for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat, Congress party candidate Ramakant Khalap emphasised the Congress party’s manifesto as the antidote to what he termed as the “misdeeds” of the BJP government.

Khalap highlighted promises of monetary assistance for job seekers, women, and farmers, particularly addressing the grievances of farmers regarding minimum support prices and middlemen exploitation.

“The Congress party is the only alternative to the misdeeds of the BJP government. If you vote for the Congress, there will be a lot of improvement,” Khalap asserted confidently.

Former State Congress President Girish Chodankar criticised the BJP for allegedly welcoming tainted legislators into their ranks.

He accused the BJP of employing intimidation tactics and coercion, exemplifying instances with Michael Lobo and Digambar Kamat.

Chodankar commended Khalap for challenging the BJP and accused them of destroying profit-making institutions like the Mapusa Urban bank.

The former GPCC president also lambasted the BJP for the shutdown of mining in 2012, particularly affecting the economy in Bicholim.

He emphasised the disillusionment of voters due to unfulfilled promises regarding mining revival and highlighted the adverse impact on small businesses and families.
