Stating that the government has meted injustice by refusing grants to the Mandrem college, former Union minister Adv Ramakant Khalap has requested Union Education Minister Smriti Irani to pay heed to his demands.
In a memorandum to Irani, Khalap stated that Mandrem Vikas Parishad is imparting education to children from Angawadi and KG. “Poor children come to learn here and the society helps the students who cannot go for further education,” said Khalap.
The memorandum further stated that without taking any grant from the government, the college secured 100% results in the first academic year.
“To get grants for the college, I have tried different ways, but the government meted injustice. Many times, Khalap along with the college teachers, students and the management met Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, but he told us to shut down the college,” added the memorandum.
