As part of an intensified ticket-checking drive to curb ticketless travel, the Konkan Railway Corporation (KRCL) has collected Rs 3.70 crore in penalties during May.
According to KRCL, a total of 951 ticket-checking drives were carried out during the month, leading to the detection of 61,051 cases of unauthorised or irregular travel.
KRCL has appealed to passengers to travel only with valid tickets to ensure a safe, smooth and hassle-free journey.
“To provide maximum comfort and convenience to genuine passengers, KRCL will continue its intensified ticket-checking drives across its entire route in coordination with Railway Protection Force personnel and railway officials. Passengers are requested to cooperate and support KRCL in ensuring safe, secure and comfortable travel for all,” KRCL officials said.
