The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch has arrested Rajkumar Maithi for the fourth time in its ongoing probe into massive land scam.
Yogesh Wazarkar, the driver attached to the Office of Mamlatdar, Bardez has also been arrested yet again, and his arrest comes a day after former Bardez Mamlatdar Rahul Dessai was arrested by the SIT for his involvement in the scam.
Wazarkar, who was earlier arrested on September 12 for conniving with the masterminds and kingpins to forge documents and cheat the original land owners as well as the government of a whopping amount, is also allegedly hand in gloves with Dessai to facilitate the scam involving close to 100 properties.
Dessai is the fourth government employee and the first gazetted officer to be arrested in the case. A day after his arrest, the former Bardez Mamlatdar was remanded to three days of police custody by the judicial magistrate on Friday.
Dessai faces two FIRs by the SIT for an offence wherein he is charged with conniving with a prime accused Royson Rodrigues and his accomplices to forge land-related documents and allow its sale for a whopping amount.
