Leaving behind the controversy over the location, Star Circus has made a rousing start in the commercial capital from Monday near the Samrat Gardens, adjoining the SAG complex, Fatorda.
A total of three shows will be staged every day in the afternoon, evening and late evening.
Addressing the media, Star Circus owner Prakash Mane made a fervent plea to the audience to come in large numbers not only to patronize the circus but to boost the morale of the performers. He pointed out that the circus business had virtually come to standstill during the Covid pandemic, affecting dozens of families eking a living from the circus.
Flanked by Vijay Mane and Gurunath Naik, Prakash Mane said the circus performers were hit hard by the Covid pandemic, adding that they need the support and blessings of the audience to bounce back.
“We will stage three shows daily at 1 pm, 4 pm and 7 pm. Tickets are compulsory for children above three years,” he said.
To a question, Mane said though animals are now banned in the circus, other acts and tricks of clowns keep the audience, more so the children, entertained.
“We have artists dressed up as animals like a chimpanzee,” he added.
A massive tent has been erected near the Samrat Gardens near the SAG Swimming pool complex, Fatorda to house the circus.
The circus was initially scheduled to be held in the adjourning space at Kadamba bus State, but it was shifted to the new site due to opposition from the locals of Fatorda.
