As visitors thronged the world-class Colva beach on Sunday taking advantage of the holidays on account of Ganesh festivities, the lifeguards were busy on their toes, cautioning the visitors not to venture out into the sea for swimming.
In fact, red flags were installed at a couple of places on the beach to alert the visitors not to venture out into the sea at particular stretches due to strong undercurrents.
The lifeguards were heard repeatedly issuing warnings to the visitors via the sound system installed on the jeep to stay away from the waters.
“We have installed the red flags at certain points as a warning signal to the visitors not to venture out into the sea. We had to repeatedly use the sound system to communicate the warning to the visitors to pay heed to the pleas of the lifeguards,” a lifeguard informed.
