Low turnout in Pernem for ZP polls

Low turnout in Pernem for ZP polls

PERNEM
A relatively low turnout in Pernem taluka will be of concern to the 21 candidates staking claim to the four ZP constituencies of Arambol, Morjim, Dhargal and Torsem.

Voters did not seem too excited about the polls and candidates along with their workers were seen trying their best to get voters to the polling booths. Voting picked up later in the day and while Arambol, Morjim and Torsem ZPs recorded a turnout in the 60s, Dhargal could only get a turnout of 55.84%.

No untoward incident was reported in any of the 89 polling stations across the taluka.

Counting of ballots will take place on Monday at the Sant Sohirobanathh Ambiye Government College in Virnoda-Pernem.
