Madhya Pradesh man held for drugs worth Rs 2.21 lakh in Verna

Verna police arrested a 28-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh, but residing at Kumborda-Verna, on charges of possessing 2.2 kg of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 2.21 lakh, following a narcotics raid behind Pirni Circle bus stop in Verna on Monday evening.

Acting on specific and reliable intelligence, the raid was conducted between 6 pm and 9.20 pm on Monday. The accused, identified as Rahul Kumar Kerwat, was caught with the contraband at the scene.

Verna police have registered an offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(b) of the NDPS Act. The accused has been taken into police custody.

PSI Carey Fernandes of the Verna police station is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
