Industries Minister Mahadev Naik on Saturday stated that the Rs 50 crore Maisal Dam in Panchawadi will begin operations before the year-end and will benefit the villages of Panchawadi and Shiroda.
Naik was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the newly-constructed stage for the Navdeep Vidyalaya at Tarvale-Shiroda.
Naik, who is also the local legislator, claimed that Shiroda had witnessed development in education, roads, water supply, electricity and sectors, during the last four years of the BJP government.
Commenting on the projects either completed or underway, Naik made mention of the 10-bedded Primary Health Centre and construction of government school buildings at Bethora.
“An amount of Rs 10 crore has been spent to develop Tarvale Ward in Shiroda Panchayat. Besides, Rs 2 crore will be spent to hot-mix the road from Khutadevi to Sukanya in Shiroda. The entire existing old power conductor will be replaced, wherever necessary, in Shiroda at a cost of about Rs 65 lakh,” Naik added.
Naik also informed the gathering that efforts have been made to address unemployment problems in Shiroda village.
“The proposed garment factory will generate employment to about 2,000 women from Shiroda village, which will help them earn a livelihood,” said Naik.
Shiroda sarpanch Sandesh Prabhudessai presented the prizes to students excelling at various fields for the current academic year and also spoke on the occasion.
Others present at the function included Shiroda Education Society chairman Durgesh Naik, Society general secretary Shamsundar Zambaulikar, school manager Bhalchandra Shirodkar and PTA president Satyawan Gaonkar.
