The CM’s Office fell victim to a cyber fraud involving an impersonator who deceived job seekers through social media.
As per the Cyber Crime Cell of Goa Police, a young local Saish Narvekar from Madkai identified himself as a CMO staff member and fraudulently offered government jobs to vulnerable youth. He demanded payments in exchange for specific positions, a Cyber Cell official said.
On receiving a complaint, the Cyber Cell traced the social media user and tracked him. The accused admitted to the crime and was arrested under relevant sections of the IPC and Information Technology Act. More details are awaited.
About an year ago, CM’s fake identity was used by an unknown man to send WhatsApp messages to people seeking money. The accused was arrested.
