Leopard trapped in poachers’ snare at Dharbandora dies

A leopard that was found caught in a trap at Surangi Farm in Petke-Dharbandora succumbed to injuries before it could receive any medical attention on Thursday.

The Forest Department has launched an investigation into the animal’s death.

According to sources, the leopard was found in injured at about 3 pm by the workers near the said farm.

The Collem Forest Department Office was informed about the leopard. Officer Ravi Shirodkar came to the spot with his team, when the leopard was breathing his last.

Then Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary Manager Paresh Parab was called to rescue the leopard but the animal succumbed to its injuries before the official could reach the spot.

Parab told the reporters that the leopard must have been caught in the poachers’ trap two or three days ago.
