MARGAO
At a meeting chaired by newly-elected Sarpanch Tercy Fernandes, members pointed out that the health of the villagers ought to be of utmost importance due to the
high manganese content in the water supply from the
Selaulim line.
After much discussions, it was resolved that that the Panchayat should immediately write to the PWD and the government to explore the possibility of providing subsidised water filters to all the households to ensure safe and clean drinking water.
The issue over the damage roads caused by the laying of internet cable also came up for discussion. Members demanded to know the action initiated by the Panchayat over the damaged roads, seeking to know whether any permission was obtained by the agency before cutting the roads. Members pointed out that though the company
had restored the road with a concrete solution, the concrete has come out and the roads posing danger to the motorists.
Sarpanch Tercy told the members that neither the company nor the authorities had taken prior permission from the Panchayat body to cut the road for the cable
laying work.
