Bandodkar provided corruption free govt in Goa: Sirsat

Former Mapusa MLA and speaker Surendra Sirsat said Goa’s first chief minister and Bahujan Samaj leader, Dayanand (Bhausaheb) Bandodkar provided a corruption-free government and worked to improve the welfare of the Bahujan community in the State.
“Bhausaheb understood the problems faced by the Bahujan Samaj and worked tirelessly to ameliorate the condition of the community in the society,” Sirsat said.
“He was a perfect leader whose government provided corruption free administration for 17 years in the State,” he added.
Sirsat was speaking at the 105th birth anniversary of Goa’s first chief minister late Dayanand Bandodkar.
On the occasion, supporters of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, led by MGP Mapusa Block president Bharat Toraskar organized a motorcycle rally in the town. The rally began at Khorlim Sim and wound its way through the main streets of Mapusa.
Later, Toraskar paid tributes to late Bandodkar at his statue near the Maruti temple followed by Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar, Surendra Sirsat, councillors Sudhir Kandolkar and Tushar Tople. Former councillors Gurudas and Shubhangi Vaigankar were also present.
Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar said, “Bausaheb Bandodkar was a leader of the masses. On his birthday we should keep our differences aside and celebrate his birth anniversary together,” said Kandolkar.
Earlier Subhash Arsekar and former MMC chairperson and Mapusa Merchants’ Community president Ashish Shirodkar garlanded Bausaheb’s statue.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza and MLAs Glenn Ticlo and Siddharth Kunkolienkar along with Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Sandeep Falari and SAG executive director VM Prabhudesai were present at the naming ceremony.
