The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has urged people residing and owning business establishments within the jurisdiction of the civic body to pay their house tax by March 30.
Chief Officer of MMC Sitaram Sawal informed that due to closure of the financial year the cash counter in the municipality will be closed for six days from March 31.
“All house owners/occupiers of houses/flats/shops/offices within the Mapusa municipal areas are requested to ensure that the house tax, rent and trade licences payable to this council are to be paid by March 30,” Sawal said.
The civic body has in a public notice has said that due to closing of the financial year 2021-22 the cash counter will be closed from March 31 to April 5.
It may be recalled, the MMC had launched a doorstep facility for collection of house tax two years ago. Armed with POS machines, MMC officials move door to door offering to collect house tax.
Meanwhile, the Mapusa civic body has issued a tender notice inviting bids for collection of market tax (sopo) and parking fees at the taxi-stand and the A, B and C blocks opposite the Shakuntala statue in the Mapusa municipal market.
The initial minimum bid for the market tax (sopo) has been fixed at Rs 1.21 crore for the new financial year while for parking fees the initial bid has been fixed at Rs 9.03 lakh at the taxi-stand and Rs 8.59 lakh in the municipal market.
