Mapusa Police on Sunday arrested a native of Belagavi with illegal possession of narcotic drug cocaine worth Rs 1 lakh.
The accused Zaheer Shaikh (43) was caught red-handed at the new bus terminus in Mapusa.
Acting on a specific lead, police conducted the raid at the new bus stand and nabbed the accused while he was de-boarding a bus at the terminal.
On conducting a personal search, around 11 gms of cocaine was found in possession of the accused.
A case has been registered against the accused under section 21 (b) of the NDPS Act.
The investigation team was led by Mapusa PI Paresh Naik, PSIs Bablo Parab, Gaurav Naik and Viraj Korgoankar, HC Sushant Chopdekar and PCs Rajesh Kandolkar, Prakash Polekar, Anand Rathod and Prasad Gaonkar.
