Heavy rain has taken a heavy toll in Bardez leaving many roads battered and disrupting power supply due to trees falling on power lines.
The downpour led to collapse of a wall of a house in Arpora even as incidents of tree falling were reported from different areas on Saturday.
The incessant rains has also battered the roads making many stretches unmotorable and dangerous.
Part of a wall of a house near Hanuman Temple at Arpora gave way causing a loss of Rs 20,000 to the occupants, Mapusa Fire Station officials said.
The fire station officials also informed that complaints of tree falling came from Assagao, Guirim, Revora, Parra and other areas throughout the day.
“There were no major calls as such but calls of trees falling on houses and electricity wires came throughout the day,” a fire official informed.
In many areas power was disrupted due to snapping of power lines on account of tree collapse.
The downpour led to water logging of roads in almost all areas inconveniencing motorists and pedestrians alike.
Most roads in Mapusa and other parts of Bardez have been battered by the heavy downpour throughout the week.
In many areas the large potholes on roads have made the stretches dangerous and unmotorable.
The condition of the service roads along the NH66 has turned worse making life difficult for motorists using the road.
The relentless monsoon has also made it difficult for the authorities to carry out any patch up work on the roads.
