Margao candidate quits Trinamool

MARGAO
Margao Trinamool Congress candidate, Mahesh Amonkar has quit the Mamata Didi-headed political party.

Addressing the media, Mahesh charged the TMC for leaving him alone in the last five days before polling, suffocating him by not providing any support, including moral support.

He rubbished reports that he had gone slow in the last few days of the campaign to help Opposition leader, Digambar Kamat, asserting that he neither patched up with Kamat or will ever do so in the future.

“There’s an misconception generated in the minds of Madgavkars that Mahesh had maintained low key in the last few days of the campaign in order to help Kamat. The Opposition leader must have also taken advantage of my predicament. But, the fact remains that the TMC leadership left me alone in the last five days for reasons best known to them. I could not quit the TMC that time since I was the party’s official candidate. I just waited for the election results to be declared to quit the party,” he said.

Mahesh pointed out that the TMC had given him an amount of Rs 25 lakh initially, but later left him alone without any support. “When money was being pumped in the campaign from all sides, I was left stranded and suffocated for want of support from the TMC,” he said.

On his future political course, Mahesh said since he represented the Khareband ward of Margao Municipal Council, he would continue to work for his people by closely working with the government in power.
