MARGAO
The South Goa Sessions Court on Friday ordered the release of Jubell Martins, who was arrested by the Colva police in connection with the murder of her father Trinidade Fernandes at Varca last month.
Additional Sessions Judge (II), Sharmila Patil ordered the release of Jubell Martins on bail upon furnishing a personal bond and local surety in the sum of Rs 25,000.
The court has directed her to cooperate with the investigation whenever called upon by the investigating officer. She has been directed not to visit the house of the deceased till the investigation is completed and chargesheet is filed.
Further direction has been made to her not to interfere with the complainant or the witnesses and shall not tamper with the evidence.
The applicant shall not leave the State of Goa without prior permission of this court.
Jubell’s lawyer, Adv Byron Rodrigues informed that the applicant through her friend had filed a bail plea in the Sessions Court on the ground that she is not involved in any murder in any manner as she is detained only on suspicion as there is no eye witness and no approver too.
She pointed out that there is no formal complaint copy filed naming the applicant as involved in any manner directly or as abetting the alleged incident nor is there any person as eye witnesses nor any names of accomplice stated to have carried out the incident on her instructions.
In her bail application, Jubell stated that suddenly some theory was proposed to the police that the relationship between father and daughter was not cordial and without any marks of injury on her to suspect any foul play.
The Colva police has taken Jubell into custody in connection with the murder of her 80-year old father inside his house at Varca.
The police, however, could not unravel the mystery behind the murder when Jubell was in police custody. After the 14-day custody, Jubell was later remanded to Judicial custody.
