A mechanism has been put in place after Margao MLA Digambar Kamat along with PWD officials and contractors inspected the city on Wednesday morning and identified areas which needed immediate attention.
More than 35 spots have been identified for immediate repairs, where the portions of roads have either sunk or the craters have surfaced because of excavations. After a high-level meeting with the officials, Kamat told the media that different agencies will engage their gangs comprising men and machinery to repair the roads. “One gang will be permanently posted to repair the roads around the municipal square. The contractor has been told to engage manpower and procure rubbles for the repair work. The PWD roads division will engage its own gang, while the water supply section has been asked to restore the roads damaged while laying pipelines,” he said.
Replying to a question, Kamat said the agencies and contractors will carry out the work round the clock to ensure that traffic
moves smoothly.
