MARGAO
Margao Urban Health Centre area witnessed a massive spike of Covid-19 on Tuesday, with the city recording 346 new cases in the last 24 hours.
This is the first time that the city has recorded a massive spike in cases, throwing up questions over the
availability of logistics and infrastructure, including beds and medicines to treat the patients.
The health bulletin showed that the number of active cases in the Margao UHC area has touched 1764 as against 1418 cases, a spike of 346 in the last 24 hours. Information suggests that apart from the municipal candidates, a number of close supporters of the contestants are down with Covid.
Health officials fear that the current trend of rising cases may continue for the next few days with the election campaign and counting of votes coming to a close only a couple of days ago.
With the city facing bed shortage and other logistics, information suggests that patients have been left with no option but to go home and isolate.
