Massive traffic jam at Morjim due to underground cabling

Morjim has been facing massive traffic jams on a daily basis due to underground cabling work in the village.
On Thursday, there was a traffic jam near the Vidya Prasarak High School at Morjim for an hour. Underground cabling work has been going on till late evening, as authorities are working on a war-footing in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to inaugurate the Mopa International Airport on December 11.
Motorists and commuters have complained of heavy dust pollution and traffic jams, causing severe hardship, especially during peak hours.

Encroachments removed on Canca footpath

Acting on directives of the high court, the Verla-Canca Panchayat cleared encroachments on the footpath along the Mapusa-Parra road at Canca.The government has undertaken a four-lane road widening cum footpath construction project between Parra and Mapusa.The High Court had already issued orders for the removal of encroachments which were hampering the road-widening work and action had been taken against these encroachments.
