Cong wiped out;
AAP will take
space: Mauvin
Stating that the Congress has been virtually “wiped out” in Goa with some of its MLAs already extending their alliance to other regional parties, Dabolim's Congress MLA Mauvin Godinho has claimed that AAP would take the space created by the Congress.
“Every person has a right to support any party and PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar's statement that those supporting AAP are “fools” was totally wrong,” said Godinho.
“AAP is just an ordinary party and will not affect BJP in Goa,” added Godinho.
“The Congress has been virtually wiped off in Goa and AAP will now take the space created by the Congress. In future, there will be no Congress left as some of its leaders have already started extending their alliance to other regional parties,” said Godinho.
Taking a dig at the AAP, Godinho said AAP leaders in Delhi had created such a mess so far, that the party could be a disaster to the nation in future.

Ridiculing PWD Minister and MGP leader Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar as a 'political joker' for insisting on the Dabolim seat for MGP, Dabolim's Congress MLA Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday claimed to have got BJP's full assurance to contest from Dabolim on the BJP ticket.
Godinho was reacting to Dhavalikar's statement on Tuesday that the Dabolim seat was reserved for the MGP and that, Premanand (Babu) Nanoskar was MGP’s candidate in Dabolim for the 2017 assembly election.
Addressing media persons in Vasco on Wednesday, Godinho said: “Being a coalition partner in the government, Dhavalikar should be strengthening the BJP. Instead, he is trying to damage the BJP by making absurd comments for his personal gains. He should not forget that he is surviving at the cost of BJP.”
“I had a word with BJP leaders regarding Dhavalikar's statement concerning Dabolim constituency and the BJP leaders have urged me not to worry and stated that Dhavalikar is day-dreaming,” he said.
“The BJP government has spent over Rs 500 crore for the development of my Dabolim constituency and I have got full assurance from BJP that I will contest from Dabolim on BJP ticket,” stated Godinho.
“Dhavalikar is a political joker who suits in any party for his personal benefit. Dhavalikar is scared of me as people of Dabolim are with me and I don’t care about the statements of Dhavalikar. I have won the assembly elections five times and am closely associated with the people of Dabolim,” added Godinho.
“There is nothing new in Dhavalikar's statement as he has been repeating the same statement for the last few years.”
“The issue is between me and BJP leaders. Talks are going on and on many occasions, I have openly said I will contest the 2017 assembly election from Dabolim on BJP ticket. The BJP has accepted me by appointing me as chairman of South Goa Planning and Development Authority,” said Godinho.
He added that the BJP government had taken up development works in his constituency, which the Congress had failed to do.
“When I have done so much development in my constituency, how can any one come at the last minute and claim the Dabolim seat,” he asked.
“Dhavalikar should not forget that he is a junior partner in the BJP-led coalition government. BJP has allotted two ministerial berths to MGP and instead of allotting one of the ministerial berths to the other MGP MLA, Dhavalikar gave the ministerial berth to his brother in a display of Family Raj,” said Godinho.
“Dhavalikar is supporting the BBSM and wants the BJP government to discontinue grants to the schools largely managed by the minority community. With this, Dhavalikar is damaging BJP as he has a hidden agenda of becoming the next chief Minister of Goa,” added Godinho.
“If Dhavalikar is so confident about himself, he should withdraw support to the BJP government. Dhavalikar is misusing the coalition 'dharma' for his personal benefit,” said Godinho.
Praising Union Minister for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari, the Dabolim MLA said most of the developmental works in the PWD section were taken up due to Gadkari's efforts, who managed to get central funds for construction of bridges and six-lane highways.
