The State government on Friday filed a 103-page interlocutory application before the Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal with evidence of the construction by Karnataka at the Kalsa-Bhandura canal site in Kankumbi.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled in the Tribunal on February 6.
Officials of Water Resources Dept who were in Delhi two days back held a detailed discussion with Addition Solicitor General and Goa’s counsel in Mhadei case Adv Atmaram Nadkarni after which the application was filed.
A tweet by WRD Minister, Vinoda Paliencar confirmed the same. “Interlocutory Application field by us (Goa govt) at Mhadei Tribunal which has been accepted by the Tribunal today”, the tweet read.
Following media reports over beginning of construction to divert Mhadei river water, Paliencar along with his team of engineers had visited the site to inspect and gather evidence of the same. The WRD also constituted a four-member team of engineers to keep a close vigil on the disputed site.
