OLD GOA
St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar has mooted commercial farming to attract youth return to agriculture.
Borkar was speaking at the Farmers Connect meet held at Neura, on Sunday, a programme aimed at encouraging the farmers return to farming their khazan fields which have been lying fallow for many years.
Speaking at the meeting, Borkar informed that time has come to look at farming as a business. “If the youth has to be attracted towards agriculture, then it should be promoted as business. Only then, will the farming sector get revived,” the MLA said.
He further said that for it to become a reality, the farmers will have to come forward and strengthen his efforts as well as the efforts of various department officials who are willing to help revive khazan farming in St Andre constituency.
